BIT Wardha Faculty Shines Nationally as Referee at All India Police Volleyball Championship

Wardha March 2026 – The sporting excellence and faculty strength of Bajaj Institute of Technology (BIT), Wardha has once again been highlighted at the national level as Mr. Nitin Ghode, Assistant Professor in Physical Education and Sports, had been nominated as a Technical Official – Referee for the 74th All India Police Volleyball Championship, held at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, from 23 to 27 February 2026.

The prestigious national-level tournament witnessed participation from 31 State Police teams from across India. Notably, Mr. Nitin Ghode was the only referee from Maharashtra State selected among the 32 referees nominated from different states of the country, reflecting his expertise and recognition in the field of volleyball officiating at the national level.

During the championship, he was entrusted with important officiating responsibilities and he served as the First Referee for several league matches. He also officiated the Women’s Semi-Final match between SSB and CRPF and the Men’s Bronze Medal match between Punjab Police and Tamil Nadu Police. In volleyball officiating, the refereeing squad consists of the First Referee, Second Referee, Reserve Referee, Scorer, Assistant Scorer, and four Line Judges, with the First Referee acting as the head of the entire refereeing panel responsible for the conduct of the match.

Mr. Ghode has consistently contributed to volleyball at the national level and has earlier been nominated as a referee for several prestigious tournaments including the Khelo India Youth Games 2019 at Pune, the Youth National Volleyball Championship 2021 at Islampur (Sangli, Maharashtra), the Youth National Volleyball Championship 2022 at Panna (Madhya Pradesh), and the 38th National Games 2024 in Uttarakhand. In recognition of his contribution to sports development, he has been honoured with the ‘Gunavant Krida Margadarshak Puraskaar’ by the Government of Maharashtra on the Republic Day of India.

Mr. Ghode has also contributed significantly to coaching and sports development of the College and University. He was nominated as the Coach of the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University (DBATU) Volleyball Boys Team for the Maharashtra State Inter-University Volleyball Championship ‘Krida Mahotsav 2025’ held at SRTMNU, Nanded.

Under his mentorship, students of BIT Wardha have represented DBATU at State Level and All India Inter-University Sports Championships. In the 2025–26 University Sports Championships, BIT students delivered an exceptional performance by securing positions in all 10 sports competitions conducted. The institute secured 1st position in eight sports, including Volleyball (Girls), Basketball (Boys & Girls), Badminton (Girls), Table Tennis (Boys & Girls), Swimming (Boys – Arnav Salve, Gold Medal) and Boxing (Boys – Saksham Deshmukh, Gold Medal). The college also secured Runner-Up position in Badminton (Boys) and Bronze Medal in the 4×100 meters Relay Race (Boys).

The achievements of Mr. Nitin Ghode highlight the presence of highly accomplished faculty at BIT Wardha and reflect the institution’s strong commitment to sports excellence alongside academics. His efforts have been appreciated by the Chairman of Shiksha Mandal, Shri Sanjay Bhargava, and the Principal, Dr. Narendra Kanhe. Mr. Ghode also expressed gratitude to the Principal and management for their constant support, stating that this success would not have been possible without their encouragement.
