Inspired by Nature, Driven by Responsibility: BIT Wardha Observes World Environment Day

Bajaj Institute of Technology (BIT), Wardha observed World Environment Day 2026 with a Tree Plantation Drive organized by the Energy and Environment Cell in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of the institute. The initiative conducted in line with the World Environment Day 2026 theme, ‘Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future,’ witnessed enthusiastic participation from the faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students, reflecting the institute’s commitment towards environmental sustainability and ecological responsibility.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Narendra Kanhe, Principal, BIT Wardha, with the planting of a sapling on the campus. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Narendra Kanhe emphasized the urgent need for environmental stewardship in the face of rising temperatures, extreme weather conditions and the growing challenges posed by climate change. He urged students, faculty and staff members to adopt environmentally responsible practices.
The occasion inspired participants to become active stakeholders in environmental protection. On the occasion, faculty members, staff, and students collectively pledged to plant and nurture trees as soon as the monsoon season begins. The pledge assumed special significance in view of the scorching heat and climate-related concerns being experienced across the nation.
The activity was coordinated by Mr. Vikas Ravekar, NSS Programme Officer, and Ms. Amruta Yadao, In-charge, Energy and Environment Cell, whose efforts ensured the successful organization of the programme.
