One-Day Seminar on “IPR for Academics”

A one-day seminar titled "IPR for Academics" was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in association with the IPR Cell of Bajaj Institute of Technology (BIT), Wardha, Maharashtra, India.
The event was conducted on Monday, 6th July 2026. The seminar was specifically designed for the faculty members of the institute. The key objectives of the seminar were to create awareness among faculty members about different forms of intellectual property, their legal protection mechanisms, procedures for filing patents, copyrights, industrial designs in India & abroad, and ultimately to strengthen research ecosystem of the institute. The seminar was delivered by Adv. Swapnil Gawande, an Intellectual Property Rights Attorney and Founder & Director of BLI Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. Total 40 faculty enthusiastically participated in this interactive seminar.
The seminar emphasized the importance of IPR for academicians, researchers, and institutions by linking intellectual property protection to research output, innovation, rankings, and funding opportunities.
The resource person explained how patents, copyrights, and designs arising from faculty and student work contribute to institutional visibility, accreditation parameters, and potential commercialization. The topics discussed also include Role of IPR in protecting research projects, funded projects, dissertations, and thesis, Institutional policies on ownership and sharing of IP between faculty, students, and the institute, Criteria for patentability.
Dr. Narendra Kanhe, Principal, emphasized the growing importance of Intellectual Property Rights in higher education and encouraged faculty members to actively engage in quality research and convert their innovative work into intellectual assets. Dr. Snehal Pachpor, IQAC Coordinator welcomed and highlighted the resource person’s expertise and significant contributions in the field of Intellectual Property Rights. Dr. Pawan Chandak, faculty In charge Pre-Incubation Cell & member of IPR Cell encouraged participants to seek guidance from the IPR Cell for protecting their innovations and intellectual creations. Dr. Harshad Phadke, member of IQAC conducted the proceedings of the program. Dr. Santosh Bopche, Dr. Amol Jumde, Dr. Partha Sarathi Subudhi, Dr. Vikas Palekar, Members of IQAC & IPR Cell took efforts for the successful completion of the program.
